An overview on Haiti
The Republic of Haiti occupies the Western third of the island previously known by its Indian name Ayiti, Quisqueya or Bohio. Haiti has an area of 27,750 km². Its current population is approximately 10 million inhabitants. It is located 80 km east of Cuba.
- The Climate of Haiti is tropical, mild, with a dry season (March) and a rainy season (September).
- Its temperature ranges from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius in coastal regions and ffrom,15 to 20 degrees Celsius in mountainous regions. In Port-au-Prince, the country’s capital, the temperature ranges from 20 to 26 degrees.
- The spoken languages are French and Creole; English is generally spoken in business meetings.
- The main religions are Catholicism, Voodoo and Protestantism.
